What do I get with my internet account?

How do I work out which plan is best for me?
All of our plans provide you with UNLIMITED hours in which to access the Internet. You simply need to work out what your regular usage pattern would be. If you only wish to send and receive a few emails each week to family and friends, then our Australink FREE service would be sufficient. Just type as user name "trial@australink.net" and as password: "trial1" dial number 0198 307 088 and happy surfing. If however you do a lot of downloading, and are keen on live multimedia events such as internet radio broadcasts and streaming video (eg Shuttle Missions) you would be best suited to our Australink FREEDOM PLAN. For absolutely unlimited everything, go for the Australink BizPlan. Our suggestion to our new users, especially those new to the Internet, is to go with the Australink FREE in the first instance, which provides you with half of an hour sessions and immediate redial. This is usually sufficient for most users, and provides an adequate data limit to get a "feel" for the Internet.
 
What is downloading?
Downloading is the term used for any information received via your internet access. This includes received email, web browsing (surfing), internet chatting, and the downloading of files of any kind (which includes playing games online, listening to music or viewing video clips).
 
How do I sign up?
You can sign up using any of the following options:
  • Fill out an online application form using a Credit Card, Cash, DD, e-Gold, PayPal, PayMate, StormPay, CanPay and if you are a chook farmer, we'll take a chook :-).
  • Phone us 07 41 700 800 and sign up over the phone.
  • Drop into the office and complete everything personally
 
What modem speeds do Australink support?
Australink supports modem speeds from 14.4k through to 56k, X2 and V90. Australink also supports 64k, 128k and 256 ISDN services, for a digital connection to the internet (Australia wide)
 
Will I get engaged signals?
The way it works is if utilization of our services reaches a set level, anyone who has been on for longer than 6 hours may be disconnected. Should you require a more stable connection for server or commercial reasons, we would be happy to discuss a Permanent Connection with you. (for now, all our members enjoy uninterrupted service)
 
How am I billed?
You will receive a tax invoice for your Internet Access on or about the 1st of every month. The invoice is sent via email so it is of utmost importance to keep your records updated. There is a button in "Members" area marked "top up" which you can use to either pay on invoice or top up at any time prior to the end of the month. You can also set up a "subscription" and make billing automatic. If your bill is paid before the end of the month, you will still receive an invoice, but this serves simply as a notice and it is marked "paid".

Unlike other ISP services where your CC is billed relentlessly, Australink will never keep your CC details, and CC is not compulsory.

 
What about connection dropouts?
If you are experiencing modem problems, please consult our extensive modem troubleshooter for more information. Drop outs will not be caused by our servers. As a matter of fact, we are so sure you wont have them that we offer to pay for every call you make to australink. Just send us the copy of your phone bill.
